The reality of the Calaceite Golf Course came a step closer yesterday when the Torrox townhall officially agreed to sell the land to the company developing the course. 460,000m2 of the 517,000m2 planned has been earmarked for transfer to Calaceite Golf, a company formed by the Fuerte Hotel Group, developers Level and the townhall of Torrox itself.

Platform for Fletcher
Fletcher is a local three year old boy from Torrox. Last August he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour, on the 14th of August he underwent 7 hours of surgery to remove as much as the tumour as possible. However, this will only buy him time as the tumour will grow again.
Conventional radiotherapy can damage developing brains so Fletcher’s best chance is “proton therapy” and he has been offered treatment in the U.S. This will cost approximately 150,000 euros. Marina a Step Closer
The Mayors of Nerja and Torrox have welcomed the result of the environmental impact study for the proposed sports marina to be situated on the borders of the two municipalities.
The positive report has not been with out controversy, it was due to be concluded in November 2007, and the results were made known to the local PSOE party of Torrox, before official communication to the mayors involved.
